Shahid alias Advani (27), a cow smuggler, was killed in an encounter between police and cow smugglers in Haryana's Nuh district in the early hours of Thursday. The encounter took place near the turn for Silani village on the Sohna-Palwal road. His two associates fled the spot, taking advantage of the darkness. Police are searching for them.
According to the available information, a team of Firozpur Jhirka CS Staff/CIA, Nuh, had received information that some people were involved in cow smuggling. The police team then chased a black vehicle in which two cows were loaded. When police tried to stop the vehicle, Shahid, who was in it, opened fire. Shahid was hit by a bullet in the retaliatory firing.
Police took the injured Shahid to the government hospital in Sohna, where he died during treatment. His body has been kept in the Sohna mortuary for post-mortem.
FSL team collects evidence
On receiving information about the incident, the station house officer and other police officers reached the spot. Police took possession of the vehicle and the two cows loaded in it. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team collected evidence from the spot.
Nearly two dozen criminal cases were registered against Shahid alias Advani, including murder, dacoity, cattle smuggling and vehicle theft. He was arrested in March 2018 in a case of car theft from Pataudi. Later, a Bilaspur Crime Branch team was taking him to the scene of the crime in an ATM theft case. During this, he escaped from police custody on the pretext of going to the toilet.
