Falta By-Election: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a resounding majority in the West Bengal Assembly elections. With the BJP's victory, the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has come to an end. A by-election was held for the high-profile Falta seat in Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, where the BJP clinched a spectacular win.

Following the declaration of the election results, an atmosphere of celebration has gripped BJP leaders and workers. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain has reacted, launching a fierce attack on Mamata Banerjee's party, the TMC.

Speaking to the media on Monday, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said:
"The TMC candidate in Falta used to say 'Pushpa jhukega nahi' (Pushpa will not bow down), but what actually happened is 'Pushpa ladega nahi' (Pushpa will not fight)—he is running away from the battlefield altogether. Following the Falta election results, there is a stampede-like situation within the TMC. Ever since the BJP government came to power in West Bengal, the people have been immensely happy. Prime Minister Modi will fulfil the dreams envisioned by the people of Bengal."

Debangshu Panda's spectacular victory from Falta
It is worth noting that the results of the by-election held for the Falta Assembly seat were declared on 24 May. The BJP's Debangshu Panda defeated his rival, Shambhu Nath Kurmi of the CPI(M), by a massive margin of 1,09,021 votes. The BJP secured a dominant vote share of 71.20%. Congress candidate Abdur Razzak Mulla managed to bag only 10,000 votes, whilst the TMC's Jahangir Khan finished in fourth place.
