Russia has once again launched a heavy attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, with ballistic missiles and drones. A major university campus, Kyoto Park, the area around a metro station and several residential buildings were targeted.

According to a Reuters report, the Kyiv mayor said at least one person was killed and 10 others were injured.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, giving details of the attack, said there was extensive damage and people were feared to be trapped under the rubble. He also urged Western countries not to delay the supply of air defence systems any further.

Densely Populated Civilian Areas Targeted

Zelensky said the Russian missiles fell in areas where civilians live in dense numbers. He said there was no military site or base near the affected areas. According to him, the attack was clearly aimed at hitting the city's essential civilian infrastructure and spreading panic among ordinary people.

He said emergency and rescue teams were at the spot, clearing debris and carrying out rescue work. Zelensky also feared that the attacks had not stopped. He said Russia was continuing drone attacks on Kyiv and other cities and towns in the country, so the threat of further attacks remained.

Questions Raised Over Delay in Air Defence Supplies

Amid the constant threat of air strikes, Zelensky objected to the slow pace at which Western allies were delivering air defence missile systems. He said that when a threat was looming at every moment and missiles were falling on cities and villages, artificial delays in providing air defence helped terror.

Zelensky urged international allies to implement political agreements quickly. He asked them to give Ukraine weapons that can target the sites from which Russian ballistic missiles are launched. He said the most effective way to save civilians' lives was to destroy those launch pads from where the attacks begin.

Russia Does Not Want Peace, Says Zelensky

Zelensky said the world must now understand the truth that Russia does not want peace. According to him, Russia's only intention is to kill people and prolong the war. He said Ukraine must not be left alone to face this brutality.

He said the war was continuing only because of Russia's stubborn attitude, due to which people were losing their lives. Appealing to citizens to stay safe and use bunkers, Zelensky said all international partners must stand firmly with Ukraine to protect human lives.
