The conflict between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah continues to rage. In the latest escalation, Israeli forces launched airstrikes and artillery bombardment on the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, killing at least 16 people.
Several others were wounded in the attacks, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals and medical camps for treatment. The condition of some of the wounded is reported to be critical.
Beyond Nabatieh city, Israeli forces also struck the towns of Kafr Jouz, Kafr Raman, Zebdin, Kafr Tibnit, and the Raihan Heights area.
Trump's Warnings Fall on Deaf Ears
Despite repeated warnings from US President Donald Trump to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt the attacks on Lebanon — including two instances where Trump reportedly reprimanded Netanyahu directly over the phone — Israeli military operations have continued unabated. While Trump has acknowledged Israel's right to self-defence, he has maintained that large-scale strikes on Lebanon, causing heavy civilian casualties, are not justified.
Ceasefires Repeatedly Collapse
Israel had intensified its operations on Lebanon since March 2, 2026. In an attempt to halt the fighting, a US-brokered 10-day ceasefire was announced on April 16, which was later extended by three weeks — but hostilities never truly stopped. On May 15, both sides agreed to a 45-day ceasefire, and again on June 3, a fresh ceasefire agreement was reached — yet Israeli strikes have continued regardless.
