Bhopal: Police in the Gandhinagar area of Bhopal have arrested a father and his daughter, along with an associate, for allegedly running a marijuana smuggling operation. The arrests come amid the state's ongoing anti-drug drive.
According to police, the accused have been identified as Akash Pardi (54), a resident of Gandhinagar, his daughter Khushi Solanki (19), and Tushar Chauhan (20), a resident of Ratlam. Officers said 21 kg 950 grams of illegal marijuana was recovered from them, along with the scooter allegedly used to transport the consignment.
Tip-off leads to operation
Police said Gandhinagar police station in-charge Sunil Chaturvedi received information from an informer that Akash Pardi was allegedly running a large narcotics network along with his daughter and was attempting to dispose of a substantial consignment of marijuana. Following the tip-off, a special team was formed under the guidance of Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh and DCP Adarsh Kant Shukla.
Consignment recovered from scooter
Police said the team laid a cordon on Aerocity Road and began monitoring the alleged smugglers. When the accused arrived with the consignment on a scooter, police surrounded them and recovered a large quantity of marijuana from bags they were carrying. Akash Pardi, his daughter Khushi Solanki, and their associate Tushar Chauhan were arrested at the spot.
Investigation into source of consignment
Police said they are now interrogating Khushi Solanki and her father to determine where the large consignment originated and to whom it was intended to be distributed in the state capital. The investigation into both the source and the intended recipients is ongoing.
Earlier drug seizure in Bhopal
Police also referred to an earlier case, in which the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had seized 6.325 kg of MD drugs — worth an estimated ₹7.5 crore — from a woman traveling from Delhi to Bengaluru at Bhopal railway station on 14 August, a day before Independence Day. The drugs were reportedly concealed in her trolley bag.
