Madhya Pradesh: Orange Alert in 3 Districts, IMD Predicts Very Heavy Rain for 3 Days

Monsoon activity remains active across almost all parts of Madhya Pradesh. The state Meteorological Department, headquartered in Bhopal, has issued alerts for very heavy, heavy and moderate rain across the northern, western and central regions of the state over the next three days. Several districts are likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall, with an orange alert issued for Bhind, Datia and Sagar. Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected in Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal division and surrounding areas. The department has urged residents in the worst-affected areas to remain cautious.

The state is likely to see intensified rain activity in its northern, western and central regions due to the effect of different weather systems. According to the department, several districts could record good rainfall over the next three days, which is expected to benefit farmers as well as improve water levels in water bodies.

Orange alert issued for 3 districts

An orange alert has been issued for Bhind, Datia and Sagar districts, with very heavy rainfall expected. Some areas within these districts could see more than 8 inches of rain, raising the possibility of waterlogging. The administration and local residents have been advised to remain alert and avoid stepping out of their homes unnecessarily during the rain.

Heavy rain warning for these districts

The Meteorological Department has also issued a heavy rain warning for the next 24 hours in Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Agar-Malwa, Ujjain, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Damoh, Maihar and Seoni districts.

Rain likely in these districts too

According to the latest update, light to heavy rain is expected today in Bhopal, Indore, Dhar, Alirajpur, Burhanpur, Barwani, Khandwa, Khargone, Jhabua, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Dewas, Ratlam, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Morena, Sheopur, Jabalpur, Katni, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Pandhurna, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maugunj, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur and Niwari districts.

40 districts still recording below-average rainfall

As many as 40 districts in the state have recorded rainfall between 3 per cent and 50 per cent below normal. The eastern parts of the state have been the worst affected, with districts in the Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions recording an average shortfall of 19 per cent.

15 districts recording above-average rainfall

Only 15 districts in the state have recorded above-normal rainfall so far. These include Anuppur, Dindori, Niwari, Satna, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, Umaria, Bhind, Bhopal, Burhanpur, Guna, Gwalior, Khargone and Rajgarh, where the monsoon has been comparatively kinder so far.
