Bhopal: A case of murder of retired IAS officer Rakesh Agarwal has come to light in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday morning. The incident took place at his house in Surajnagar, under the Ratibad police station area. Police suspect a servant who had been hired two days earlier and is currently missing. Police have begun an investigation and are going through CCTV footage and FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) material. It is being said that the crime was committed inside the house. Marks have been found on the retired officer's neck.

According to available information, Agarwal lived in the Surajnagar house with his wife. The servant he had hired two days earlier has been absconding since the incident. In the preliminary investigation, suspicion is said to be on the servant, but police have not officially confirmed this.

Servant hired through Punjab agency

It is being said that on 28 September, Agarwal had hired a man named Varun Kumar as a caretaker through an agency in Punjab. According to police, the servant's belongings are also missing from the house. Police said the main door of Agarwal's house was locked from outside.

Evidence of attempt to set house on fire

During examination of the spot, police found evidence of an attempt to set the house on fire. According to police, the cylinder pipe in the kitchen was found pulled out and the entire house was filled with gas.

Agarwal's wife told police that she woke up at around 5:30 am to go for a walk and found the main door locked from outside. She then phoned another caretaker, Rajan Thapa, who opened the door. She then went to check on Agarwal and found him lying on the floor in a suspicious condition.
