Jaipur: An incident at Govind Vatika in Karadhani on Friday morning has shaken the city. Rahul Jha, who was reportedly reeling under heavy losses in the stock market, domestic discord and a mountain of debt, allegedly killed his wife Geeta and their three daughters — Nandini, Radhika and Girisha.
Additional DCP Rajesh Gupta said a preliminary investigation has revealed that Rahul had borrowed money from several people. The house in Govind Vatika is registered in his wife's name, and he had reportedly been trying to sell it for some days. It is suspected that domestic discord between the couple had been simmering over this issue. Investigation is currently underway, and police teams are searching for the accused, who remains at large.
Daughters' Bright Future Meets a Horrifying End
Rahul had once wanted to give his daughters a good education and build their future. His wife Geeta ran a beauty parlour from home to help with finances, while eldest daughter Nandini was also lending a hand alongside her studies. Daughters Radhika and Girisha, too, were focused on their studies. But financial hardship and domestic strife are believed to have pushed the family to a point where Rahul's mental balance collapsed.
He had reportedly asked a neighbour for Rs 50,000 but received only Rs 25,000 in help. The stress kept mounting, but neither neighbours nor relatives had any inkling that this anxiety would turn into murderous madness. According to the FSL investigation, the incident is believed to have occurred between 4 am and 5 am. It is suspected that Rahul first made his wife and daughters inhale an intoxicating substance, and then crushed their faces with a heavy cement brick.
Elder Brother Breaks Down in Tears
Niece Simran arrived at the spot on learning of the deaths of her aunt and cousins. Simran comforted her grandfather Laxminath Jha, but his tears, too, would not stop. Some time later, Simran's father Sanjay and brother also arrived and broke down in tears. According to the family, Laxminath, a retired employee of the electricity department, earlier lived with his two sons Sanjay and Rahul in Sanjay Nagar, Jhotwara. After the death of Laxminath's wife, that house was sold, and Rahul bought the house in Govind Vatika in 2021. On the ground floor, the daughters lived in separate rooms while Laxminath lived in the hall, and Rahul and Geeta lived on the upper floor. Elder brother Sanjay had gone to live with his family in Prem Nagar. As news of the incident spread, a large number of relatives and residents of the colony gathered at Rahul's house.
'Signs of Behavioural Change, Deep Despair Must Be Taken Seriously'
It would not be right to attribute such a heinous incident to debt or domestic discord alone. Long-term financial pressure, marital tension, lack of anger control, despair and mental instability are among several factors that play a role in such cases. Families should take seriously any sudden changes in behaviour, excessive irritability, violent tendencies, changes in sleep patterns and deep despair. In such situations, it is crucial to consult a psychiatrist in time.
