Chittoor: A shocking case has come to light in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, where a woman allegedly had her own husband murdered after luring him out on the pretext of visiting a temple. Using digital evidence, CCTV footage and technical analysis, police cracked the conspiracy within a matter of hours and arrested four people, including the accused wife and her lover.
According to police, Ramesh (23), a resident of Sulagiri in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district, worked at a private company in Hosur. He had married Hasini (19) of Shantipuram roughly two years ago, and the couple had a young daughter. While relatives believed the marriage to be a normal one, police investigations revealed that Hasini had continued a relationship with her childhood friend, 20-year-old Yugandhar, even after marriage — and the two allegedly plotted together to kill Ramesh.
Police said that on the day of the incident, a Tuesday, Hasini convinced Ramesh, as part of the plan, to visit the Sri Malleshwara Swamy Temple at Mallappa Konda in Gudupalle mandal. The couple set off on a motorbike with their infant daughter. Throughout the journey, Hasini allegedly kept sending her lover Yugandhar her live location via mobile phone, allowing the attackers to track their movements. The attack was carried out near the third hairpin bend on Hill Road.
On the hilly stretch, Hasini reportedly dropped her handbag deliberately. As Ramesh stopped the bike to pick it up, Yugandhar and his associates, who were lying in wait, emerged with weapons. Ramesh ran towards the nearby forest to save his life, but the accused chased him for around 100 metres and killed him with sharp weapons. Their infant daughter was present nearby throughout the incident.
The murder came to light after Hasini's mother contacted police to report that her daughter and granddaughter had not returned home. When police examined CCTV footage along the temple route, it showed Ramesh travelling to the temple with his wife — but on the return journey, Hasini was seen riding away on Ramesh's own motorbike with two other men.
Police subsequently used mobile data and location tracking to recover Ramesh's body and apprehend the accused. Hasini, her lover Yugandhar, and two other accomplices have been arrested and are being questioned.
