Monsoon activity remains fully active across Madhya Pradesh, with rain continuing in most districts, including Bhopal. The state weather department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rain, along with a yellow alert for heavy rain in several other districts, for Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
Orange alert for five districts
According to an update from the state weather department in Bhopal, an orange alert for very heavy rain has been issued for Betul, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Rajgarh and Narsinghpur districts. These areas could see between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm of rainfall — up to around 8 inches. The rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds of 30 to 40 kmph. Residents in the worst-affected districts have been advised to exercise particular caution.
Yellow alert for heavy rain in several other districts
The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Mandla, Jabalpur, Katni, Panna, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Sehore, Harda, Guna, Agar-Malwa and Shajapur. These districts could receive between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm of rain — roughly 4 inches — along with thunder and strong winds.
Risk of lightning strikes
Along with rain, several parts of Madhya Pradesh face a risk of lightning strikes. The weather department has advised people to avoid open areas, fields, trees and water bodies during thunderstorms. Residents in the affected districts have also been urged to check the latest weather updates before stepping out and to travel only if necessary.
