Indore news: The path for construction of the proposed Pigdambar flyover in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has now been cleared. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the tender process for the flyover's construction, and work at the site is set to begin from October. To ensure vehicle movement on the highway is not disrupted during construction, a service road will be built first, after which the main flyover construction will begin.
According to NHAI officials, vehicular pressure at the Pigdambar crossing has been steadily increasing. The highway sees movement of both local and long-distance vehicles, along with traffic to and from surrounding areas. Officials said the flyover would allow unhindered movement of vehicles, reduce congestion, and help eliminate this stretch, which is considered a black spot from an accident perspective.
NHAI Project Director Praveen Yadav said the tender process for the flyover has been completed and the contractor company has been selected, with preparations underway to begin work this month. The agency has been directed to ensure all necessary traffic-related arrangements are in place before construction begins. The effort will be to minimise disruption to vehicles passing through the highway during construction. Once the flyover is complete, it is expected to make traffic movement in the Pigdambar area smoother and help make the accident-prone spot safer.
A service road will be built before flyover construction begins, aimed at keeping traffic on the main route organised while work is underway. NHAI has directed the contractor company to put in place diversions, barricading, signage and other necessary traffic arrangements before construction starts, so drivers are not inconvenienced. During construction, a separate route will be set for heavy vehicles, and pedestrian safety will also be taken into account. Adequate traffic marshals will be deployed on site, with route changes made as needed.
