The Rajasthan government has issued strict guidelines on the manufacture, storage, sale and use of firecrackers during Diwali, aimed at curbing air pollution, protecting the environment and safeguarding public health.
Shailja Deval, Secretary of the state's Department of Environment and Climate Change, has issued the guidelines for all six Rajasthan districts that fall under the National Capital Region (NCR).
Under the new orders, the use of traditional crackers has been completely banned in the NCR districts of Rajasthan. Fixed time limits have been set for bursting crackers.
Restrictions Apply in These Six Districts
The guidelines have come into force with immediate effect in the following Rajasthan NCR districts:
Alwar
Bharatpur
Dausa
Deeg
Khairthal-Tijara
Kotputli-Behror
Timings for Bursting Crackers and Relaxation Schedule
To curb air pollution, the government has set a strict schedule of dates and timings for the use of crackers.
Until 6 November 2026: The complete ban on crackers will continue.
7 and 8 November 2026 (Diwali relaxation): Green crackers will be allowed for these two days only.
Morning slot: 6am to 7am (one hour only)
Night slot: 8pm to 10pm (two hours only)
From 9 November 2026: The complete ban on crackers will come back into force once the two-day relaxation ends.
300-Metre 'Silence Zone' Declared; Crackers Banned in These Places
Keeping in mind the health of the public and patients, the areas around hospitals, nursing homes, primary and district health centres, old-age homes and all educational institutions (schools and colleges) have been declared silence zones. Bursting any kind of crackers within a 300-metre radius of these institutions is strictly prohibited.
Only Green Crackers With QR Codes to Be Sold; Online Delivery and Strings Banned
To prevent the sale of illegal and fake crackers, the government has tightened the sales system.
QR code mandatory: Only CSIR-NEERI-certified green crackers that carry an authentic product-specific QR code on their packaging can be sold. The QR code will confirm the manufacturer, the PESO licence and the NEERI certification.
Strings and barium banned: There will be a 100 per cent ban on the manufacture, storage and sale of crackers joined in strings (ladi/garlands) and crackers containing barium.
Online sales banned: The online delivery and sale of crackers through Amazon, Flipkart or other e-commerce and online platforms will remain completely prohibited.
Patrol Teams for Checking; Strict Legal Action for Violations
Strict legal action will be taken against traders, manufacturers or citizens who violate the guidelines, under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and Supreme Court orders.
Special police patrol teams have been formed on the Delhi-NCR borders to check vehicles, so that traditional or illegal crackers do not enter Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB), police, local bodies and the district administration have been directed to carry out regular inspections and daily reporting.
