A suspected blast on the Ramsinghpur-Anupgarh railway line in the Ramsinghpur area of Sri Ganganagar district on Tuesday night, ahead of Diwali, caused alarm. The sound of the blast, at around 10.15pm, was so loud that it was heard in several surrounding villages, including 58 GB. The sudden blast caused panic among villagers, and people came out of their homes. Fortunately, a train had already passed on this railway track before the blast. There is no report of any loss of life.

Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Harishankar and other police officers reached the site and took stock of the situation. Railway officials also arrived at the spot and gathered information at their level.

Probe from All Angles

SP Harishankar said a suspected blast has occurred right in the middle of the railway line near Ramsinghpur. The cause and nature of the blast are not known at present. However, he said he did not have firm information about the incident. He said something has indeed happened, but its actual situation is not yet clear. Railway officials are inspecting the site.
