Kota: Motorists are set to get major relief soon from the traffic jams at Dara Valley on the Kota-Jhalawar National Highway-52, as work on one more road underbridge (RUB) has been completed there by the Railways. Its construction will provide an additional route for vehicles passing under the railway track. This will reduce pressure on the existing underpass and could make travel easier for people going from Kota to Jhalawar and from Jhalawar to Kota. Traffic will be started through the RUB after Diwali.
Construction of the new railway underpass being built under the railway line at Dara Valley at a cost of ₹5 crore has reached its final stage. The new underpass is being built close to the old underpass. After the work of placing cement boxes under the railway line was completed, road construction and other works are now in their final phase.
Construction at a Cost of Around ₹10 Crore
The Railways had released a budget of about ₹9.98 crore for a permanent solution to the traffic jam problem at Dara Valley. Cement boxes 46 metres long have been placed under the railway line in the new underpass. Beyond this, a cement concrete (CC) road 130 metres long and 7 metres wide has been built. The railway underpass has been built at a cost of about ₹5 crore in this. The remaining amount will be used for the CC road and other works.
Dependence on a Single Route Will End
The new underpass will provide an additional option for traffic on the Kota-Jhalawar route. At present, vehicles move through only one route, and the pressure of vehicles coming from opposite directions leads to jams. Once the new underpass starts, traffic can be run in an orderly manner. This will bring relief to local people, traders, farmers and travellers passing through Dara Valley.
Business and Tourism Will Also Benefit
Dara Valley is an important route for motorists going from Kota to Jhalawar, Jhalrapatan, Aklera and Madhya Pradesh. Jams here delay the transport of goods. Tourism and business activities are also affected. Once the new underpass starts, movement of vehicles will become easier and both time and fuel will be saved.
“Work on the new RUB at Dara Valley has been completed. The approach road is now being built,” said Ashok Sanadhya, Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (National Highway Division). “As soon as the construction work is completed, traffic will be started after Diwali. This construction will bring great convenience to the general public.”
