Rajasthan Alwar Absconding Criminals: Alwar: Absconding criminals are becoming a major headache for the police in Rajasthan. Alwar district ranks number one in the state for the highest number of fleeing criminals. Around 984 criminals here remain out of the police's reach.
From January to April this year, 12,408 absconders were registered in the state's records.
The police arrested 683 individuals and closed 239 cases. Despite this, 11,486 accused are still on the run. The police have announced bounties ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹1,00,000 on these wanted criminals.
In Alwar, several accused involved in murder, robbery, dacoity, illegal weapons, cow smuggling, and organized crime have been evading arrest for a long time. The police have been running a special campaign since the year 2025 to apprehend them.
Police station teams are continuously conducting raids and keeping suspected hideouts under surveillance. However, criminals often get prior information, allowing them to flee before the police arrive.
According to the data, the highest number of absconding criminals, 2,647, is registered under the police stations of the Jaipur Range. This is followed by the Jaipur Commissionerate with 2,176 and the Bharatpur Range, where 1,408 criminals are yet to be caught.
Among districts, Alwar tops the state with 984 absconding accused. It is followed by Jaipur West (769), Deeg (630), Jaipur East (627), and Udaipur (533). In catching absconders, the Bharatpur Range (240) and Jaipur Range (125) have led the way.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma has made it clear that if any history-sheeter commits a crime in the state, not only the Station House Officer (SHO) but the Superintendent of Police (SP) of that district will also be held directly responsible. During a review meeting held via video conferencing, he issued directives to strengthen the monitoring system for criminals.
In the video conference, instructions were given to resolve murder cases that are more than five years old and remain unsolved (untraced) as quickly as possible. The Range IG and SP must personally supervise the investigation of all such cases.
According to police records, there are 207 history-sheeters in the district. The highest number is in the urban area, with 85 history-sheeters. Police station-wise, the Kotwali police station area has the highest with 27 history-sheeters, followed by the Aravali police station area with 17.
