Alwar: A tragic incident has come to light from the Itarana Army Cantonment in the district. A soldier hailing from Maharashtra, who was posted at the cantonment premises, died by suicide by hanging himself inside the barrack. The incident caused a stir within both the army and the police department.

Preliminary investigations have not revealed any clear reason behind the suicide. The police are currently investigating the matter from various angles. According to the Udyog Nagar police station, the deceased has been identified as Sonowane Kishore Mahadev (42).

He was a resident of Saman village in the Siddharth Nagar area of Maharashtra and was deployed on housekeeping duty at the Itarana Army Cantonment. It is reported that on 30th May, he ended his life by hanging himself in the barrack. Upon discovering the incident, army officials immediately informed the Udyog Nagar police. Following the information, a police team arrived at the spot, inspected the scene of the incident, and took the necessary action.

Police Launch Investigation

The police gathered evidence from the scene and initiated an inquiry. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mahavir Singh of the Udyog Nagar police station stated that preliminary information provided by the army indicates no signs of any specific trouble or stress faced by the soldier. Despite this, why he took such an extreme step remains a mystery. The police are also examining the personal and service-related aspects of the deceased. Following the incident, the body was kept secured in the mortuary. Since the family members of the deceased reside in Maharashtra, it took some time for them to reach Alwar.

Body Handled Over to Relatives

Following the arrival of the relatives in Alwar on Tuesday, a post-mortem examination was conducted by a medical board. After the completion of the post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family members. Currently, the police are engaged in a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the suicide. The actual motive behind the incident will only become clear once the investigation report and other facts emerge.

Upon searching the pockets of the deceased, documents were found through which he was identified as Gagan Kumar Agarwal (44), son of Jawahar Lal Agarwal, a resident of Kali Mori (Moti Nagar) in Alwar city.
