Pratapgarh: A wave of panic spread across the entire police department following information that a female constable allegedly committed suicide in the police quarters located within the Chhoti Sadri station premises of Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district.

Upon receiving information about the incident, District Superintendent of Police B. Aditya reached the spot and, viewing the seriousness of the matter, initiated an investigation. The female constable has been identified as Som Kunwar, who was a resident of the Warmandal area of Pratapgarh district.

According to information, the female constable was assigned to the morning shift on Thursday for the Eid festival, but she did not report for duty. On this, fellow police personnel called her, but contact could not be established. Fearing some untoward incident, when police personnel went and checked the quarters located within the station premises, the female constable was found dead. Following the incident, an atmosphere of chaos prevailed on the station premises.

As soon as information about the matter was received, SP B. Aditya, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Chhoti Sadri CO, and several senior officers reached the spot. An FSL team from Pratapgarh was also called, which began the process of gathering evidence from the scene. Meanwhile, police forces from Dholapani station, Jaloda Jagir, and several neighbouring stations also reached the spot.

Female constable had spoken to family members just at night

Following the incident, the family members of the female constable also reached the spot. Characterising the matter as suspicious, the family members have demanded an impartial investigation. The family states that they had a phone conversation with the female constable late at night around 9:00 pm, and she was in a normal state. Information has also emerged that the female constable had returned to duty just a day earlier.

Family demands FSL investigation

The police have kept the body in the mortuary of the government hospital. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot. But, since the female constable's body was found hanging from a noose in the police quarters located behind the station, the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out. The family members also expressed objections to conducting a post-mortem. Demanding an FSL investigation, the family has sought a deep inquiry into the entire matter. Currently, the police are engaged in the investigation, keeping all angles in mind.
