Police in Bundi, Rajasthan, have cracked down on a racket running immoral activities out of a house on Tehsil Road, arresting 22 people, including 14 men and 8 women, in a carefully planned raid.
According to officials from Bundi's Sadar police station, the operation had been running for a considerable period, with local residents and police intelligence flagging suspicious activity at the property. After verifying the complaints, officers devised a sting operation, sending in a decoy customer who entered the premises, negotiated a deal, and then signalled to the waiting police team outside once the racket was confirmed. A large contingent of officers then surrounded and raided the house, detaining everyone found inside in a compromising position.
Investigators revealed that the entire network was allegedly being run by a woman together with her son. Police seized around ₹2.4 lakh (approximately £2,300) in cash from the scene, along with three digital payment machines used for online transactions, a car, a tempo, and a motorcycle.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Joshi said the discovery of the digital swipe machines indicated the gang had been operating using sophisticated, high-tech payment methods rather than relying solely on cash.
Preliminary questioning found that the racket was not confined to the local area. Some of the women rescued from the premises were from Surat in Gujarat, Kolkata in West Bengal, as well as Bhilwara and Bundi within Rajasthan itself, suggesting the network extended across state lines.
All eight women rescued have been sent to the Sakhi One Stop Centre for counselling, legal support and medical examinations, following the completion of statutory procedures.
Sadar police station in-charge Bhanwar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the woman who owned the house, her son, and their associates under relevant sections of law for running the premises as a hub for immoral activities.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, with officers now probing whether the network has links to any larger organised gang or human trafficking racket. Seized digital devices and bank accounts are being examined to trace the full chain of financial transactions.
