This is her first medal at the Asian Games. In the final, she lifted 83kg in her first snatch attempt, 85kg in her second, and 87kg in her third and final attempt. Only successful lifts are counted, and her 87kg lift was the one recorded.

In clean and jerk, Chanu lifted 107kg in her first attempt and 111kg in her second. However, after seeing the South Korean lifter successfully attempt 10kg more than her, she chose not to go for a third attempt. South Korea's Ri Song Gum lifted 116kg in her first clean and jerk attempt and 121kg in her second, setting a world record.
