India vs Bangladesh: India Women Reach Asia Cup 2026 Final

India's women's cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 40 runs in the semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup 2026, booking their place in the final for the tenth time running. The match produced 11 sixes in total, making it the first game in Women's Asia Cup history to feature 10 or more maximums.

Batting first, India posted 149 for six in 20 overs, and Bangladesh could only manage 109 for 7 in reply.

Shafali Verma shines again

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and chose to bowl first. India got off to a poor start, with Smriti Mandhana out for just two runs. Shafali Verma and Pratika Rawal then put on a 50-run stand for the second wicket, before Rawal was dismissed for 20. Harmanpreet Kaur then joined Shafali Verma to take the total past 90. Shafali completed her half-century and was eventually dismissed for 64 off 40 balls, an innings that included seven fours and three sixes.

Harmanpreet Kaur played a comparatively slow innings, finishing unbeaten on 24 off 28 balls. Richa Ghosh added 21 off 16 balls and Deepti Sharma contributed 13 off just six balls, helping India reach 149.

Bangladesh restricted to 109/7

Chasing 150, Bangladesh had a mixed start. Their first wicket fell with the score on 26, and they had lost half their side by 83. No Bangladeshi batter was able to score at pace during the innings, and the side finished on 109 for 7 as their 20 overs ran out.

Harmanpreet Kaur's India have now reached the Women's Asia Cup final for the 10th time running. Of the previous nine finals India reached, they were champions on seven occasions and lost twice — to Bangladesh in the 2018 Asia Cup final and to Sri Lanka in the 2024 Women's Asia Cup final. India will now face either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the final on 13 September.
