Madhya Pradesh Weather: Heavy Rain Forecast in 16 Districts, IMD Issues Fresh Alert

Madhya Pradesh continued to witness widespread monsoon activity on Wednesday, with light to moderate rainfall recorded across 16 districts under the Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior divisions. Sidhi district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 74 mm, followed by Gwalior at 57 mm, Datia at 49 mm and Rewa at 45 mm.

In the state capital, Bhopal experienced alternating spells of sunshine and cloud cover through the day. However, light drizzle was reported in parts of the city and district during the evening. According to departmental data, the district recorded 0.6 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours.

Two Weather Systems Active

According to the State Meteorological Centre in Bhopal, an induced cyclonic circulation formed over Uttar Pradesh, combined with a monsoon trough passing through the region, has intensified rainfall in the northern and north-eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, other districts are witnessing light to moderate showers.

Heavy Rain Likely in These Areas

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall on Thursday in 16 districts: Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Sagar, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Maihar and Ashoknagar. The remaining districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. No major change in the state's weather is anticipated over the next 24 hours.
