A 22-year-old student of Guru Ghasidas Central University (GGU) in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, has been missing for more than two days. His family has filed a missing-person complaint at Koni police station.

The student has been named as Sameet Kumar. He is studying in the university's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department. Police are searching for him but have not yet found any clue to his whereabouts.

According to his family, Sameet was last seen at around 10:16am on 16 September in the IT building of the CSE department. It is not known where he went after that. The family and acquaintances searched for him on their own. When they could not find any information, they contacted the police.

Where he was last seen

The student was reportedly seen in the university's IT building on the morning of 16 September. No clear information has emerged about where he went afterwards. His family is worried. On the basis of the complaint, police are collecting information on possible places and circumstances connected with his disappearance.

Appeal on social media

After news of his disappearance reached the campus, student organisations and acquaintances have used social media to help find him. A poster of the student is being shared on social media platforms, and people are being asked to inform his family or the police if they have any information about him. Student organisations have also said they will help with searches on the campus and in surrounding areas. The family is continuing to try to contact Sameet, but he has not been traced so far.

Earlier incident

The case has prompted discussion of an incident at the university last year, when a student went missing and his body was later recovered from a pond on the campus. However, no conclusion can be drawn by linking Sameet's case to that incident. For now, the police are searching for the student and examining the circumstances of his disappearance.

Police inquiry

After the complaint was registered, Koni police are gathering the information needed to trace the student. Police may look into where he was last seen, his movements and the people he was in contact with, among other aspects. No official information has yet emerged about why he went missing.
