Barmer. After Dhorimanna was granted municipality status, the town got its first chairman on Wednesday. Her unopposed election, coming at a young age as the first chairman of the municipality, became a notable chapter in the political developments of Dhorimanna.

First municipality, and a young chairperson

All eyes were on the first election for the chairman's post after Dhorimanna was granted municipality status. The post of chairman was reserved for a woman from the Scheduled Caste category. Amid political activity and contenders, consensus was eventually reached on Kirti Gosaiwal's name. With no candidate standing against her after nominations closed, her election became unopposed.

Kirti said — will live up to the people's trust

After becoming the unopposed chairman, Kirti Gosaiwal expressed gratitude to the BJP organisation, state minister KK Bishnoi, and the people of the area. She said that she would try to live up to the trust with which the public had elected her and now given her the responsibility of the chairman's post. She spoke of prioritising the development of Dhorimanna and civic amenities.

Firecrackers burst in market, sweets distributed among people

With the announcement of Kirti Gosaiwal's unopposed election as chairman, enthusiasm spread among her supporters. In the main market, supporters burst firecrackers and celebrated by distributing sweets to one another. BJP workers and supporters congratulated Kirti. There was discussion in the town throughout the day over her unopposed election as the first chairman of the municipality's first board. Curiosity over the chairperson's post was seen not just in the town but also in the surrounding villages.
