Bhopal: Monsoon rains have paused across most districts of Madhya Pradesh for now. Although light to moderate rainfall was recorded in a few districts over the past 24 hours, the absence of rain in most areas left residents grappling with heat and humidity.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the weather is set to turn on Wednesday, with heavy rainfall expected in the eastern parts of the state. Other regions are likely to witness light rain or drizzle. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions in view of the changing weather.

Districts Likely to Receive Heavy Rainfall

According to the weather department, heavy rain is expected today in Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi and Singrauli. The eastern districts, in particular, are likely to see substantial rainfall, while the rest of the state may experience light showers or drizzle.

Rainfall Recorded Over the Past 24 Hours

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in Nowgong, Chhatarpur district, at 42mm. This was followed by 37mm in Gwalior, 18mm in Seoni, 12mm in Rewa and 11mm in Ujjain. Rainfall was also recorded in Datia, Dhar, Indore, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Narsinghpur and Satna.

What's Causing the Shift in Weather?

Officials say the change in weather is being driven by a cyclonic system over the northern part of the state, combined with a monsoon trough passing through Uttar Pradesh. This has resulted in good rainfall across the northern and eastern districts. Meanwhile, humidity in the air over the western and central regions has led to light showers and drizzle in those areas.
