Jaipur: Four people were killed on the spot and two others were seriously injured on Friday when a car fell into a deep ditch beside the Dausa-Manoharpur National Highway-148 near Raisar in Rajasthan. Police said a tyre burst caused the car to go out of control. Panic and screams followed at the spot.

According to available information, all the occupants were devotees returning to Agra after darshan at Khatushyamji.

The tyre burst at around 6.30 am on the Dausa-Manoharpur NH-148 in the Raisar police station area. The car went out of control and fell into a deep ditch.

Police reached the spot after being informed. With help from local people, they pulled out those trapped in the car and sent them to the hospital by ambulance. The bodies of the dead were kept in the mortuary of a government hospital.

Victims identified

Raisar SHO Rajpal Singh said the accident was caused by the tyre burst. Atul, Mukul, Rupesh and Shiva, all residents of Agra, died on the spot when the car fell into the ditch.

Rahul and Arpit were seriously injured. Police pulled them out of the car with the help of villagers. They have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Long traffic jam on highway after accident

A long traffic jam built up on the Manoharpur-Dausa National Highway after the accident. It lasted about an hour, with queues of vehicles on both sides, causing considerable trouble to motorists.

Police managed traffic after the injured were taken to hospital. The car was removed with the help of a crane.

Loading tempo leaves Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and overturns into ditch
