Delhi on High Alert: Posters of 19 Terrorists Put Up Ahead of 15 August

Security agencies in Delhi have declared a high alert just days ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with police putting up posters of 19 of the country's most wanted terrorists at major markets and public spaces across the capital.

The move comes amid fears that operatives linked to Al-Qaeda, Indian Mujahideen and Khalistani outfits could attempt to disrupt the 15 August celebrations. Security forces have tightened vigil across the city, and the posters, bearing the faces of the most dangerous wanted terrorists, have triggered a wave of concern among residents.

The list includes several notorious names, among them Riyaz Bhatkal and Iqbal Bhatkal, Harvinder Singh alias Rinda, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, all of whom face serious allegations of anti-national activity.

Police have promised attractive rewards for citizens who provide accurate information about the suspects, along with a guarantee that their identities will be kept strictly confidential.

Faces behind notorious outfits named in the blacklist

The blacklist released by police includes prominent figures from several terrorist organisations. From Indian Mujahideen, it names chief Riyaz Bhatkal and Shabandari Mohammad Iqbal alias Iqbal Bhatkal. Those linked to Al-Qaeda include Mohammad Sharjeel Akhtar, Abu Sufiyan and Syed Mohammad Arshiyan.

Also featured are Khalistani terror outfits attempting to disturb peace in the country — Ranjit Singh alias Neeta and Paramjit Singh Pamma of Khalistan Zindabad Force; Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala of Khalistan Tiger Force; and Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Wadhawa Singh Babbar and Gurmeet Singh Bagga of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Appeal to public to stay alert, reward for information

With national security in focus, Delhi Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the ongoing security drive. Police say anti-national elements typically attempt to create disturbances around national events such as Independence Day. Citizens who notice anything suspicious relating to the individuals named in the posters have been urged to report it to police immediately.

Alongside the control room number 112, police have also released dedicated contact numbers for the Special Cell. Authorities have assured that anyone providing accurate and credible information about these terrorists will be suitably rewarded, and their identity kept completely confidential.
