
Nana Patekar Dies at 75
Veteran actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after a suspected cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. He was declared dead at 5.20am on Thursday.
According to reports, Patekar was rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering the cardiac arrest. Doctors tried to revive him with CPR and other medical procedures for about 45 minutes. He did not respond.
Found unconscious at home
According to ANI, Patekar was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula in the early hours of Thursday. Family members and staff called for emergency medical help without delay, and he was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition was already extremely serious by then.
Doctors made every possible effort to save him. Dr Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, described what happened.
"The patient's condition was critical when he was brought in. Our team gave CPR continuously for 45 minutes to try to revive him, but there was no movement or response. He was declared dead at 5.20am. The preliminary examination suggests the cause of death was a severe cardiac arrest. A medico-legal case (MLC) has been registered and a post-mortem will be conducted as per the rules," Dr Salkar said.
Condolences on social media
There has been no official statement yet from the family or local administration on Patekar's funeral or the detailed circumstances of his death. Condolence messages began appearing on social media as soon as the news spread.
Patekar worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema. His films include "Parinda", "Krantiveer", "Agni Sakshi", "Ab Tak Chhappan", "Raajneeti" and "Welcome". He also helped drought-hit farmers in Maharashtra through the Naam Foundation.
