Jodhpur: A truck loaded with fodder caught fire in Jodhpur on Monday night, with preliminary information pointing to contact with overhead power lines. In a separate incident the same night, four buses parked at a factory on Pal Road were gutted.

Flames spread fast through fodder load

The truck was travelling from Khejadli towards Guda Vishnoiyan when, according to preliminary information, overhead power lines came into contact with it. A short circuit is believed to have set the fodder on fire. With the truck loaded with fodder, the flames spread rapidly and created panic at the spot.

Villagers who saw the flames rushed in and began dousing the fire with water tankers. On receiving information, police and fire tenders reached the spot, and the fire was put out after considerable effort.

A large part of the fodder was saved, and no casualties have been reported. Police gathered details of the incident, and the preliminary indication is that the fire started when the truck touched the power lines.
