The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, has formed 6 new committees with 60 members ahead of admissions for the 2026–27 academic session. The Registrar's Office (General Administration) has approved their formation.

Professor Rakesh Kumar Singh has been made chairperson of five of these committees. Professor P.N. Lal will chair the Hostel Infrastructure and Maintenance Committee. Each committee includes two student representatives.

The committees formed are: Anti-Ragging Squad Committee, Hostel Discipline and Vigilance Committee, Hostel Allotment Committee, Hostel Infrastructure and Maintenance Committee, Mess Allotment Committee, and Mess Discipline and Vigilance Committee.

The 13-member Hostel Discipline and Vigilance Committee is the largest. It can inspect hostels without prior notice to administrative officers. The 12-member Anti-Ragging Committee will monitor the hostel campus, investigate ragging complaints, and is empowered to cancel the admission of a student found guilty of ragging.

The Hostel Allotment Committee, chaired by Professor Rakesh Kumar Singh with Professor P.M. Lal as Vice-Chairperson, will handle hostel allotments and warden accommodation applications. The Mess and Canteen Monitoring Committee will oversee food quality, cleanliness, and pricing in hostel mess facilities. The Hostel Infrastructure and Maintenance Committee will handle construction-related complaints and coordinate with the institute's construction department.
