Imran Khan Health Update: Concern has grown once again over the health of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Pakistan's former President Arif Alvi has described the medical report of Khan, who is currently in jail, as worrying. Alvi said caution needs to be exercised regarding Khan's anxiety, stress, heart rate and blood pressure.
Arif Alvi expressed his concern over Imran Khan's health through a post on social media platform 'X'. He said Imran Khan is currently under a great deal of stress. He has known Imran Khan for more than 35 years, and stress was never a weakness for him before. But the situation now appears different. Nearly three years in jail and prolonged periods of isolation could be taking a toll on his health.
Alvi further said that Imran Khan's heart rate is 54 beats per minute. This figure could be considered normal, but it is not normal for Khan.
Arif Alvi said a 24-hour Holter monitor should be fitted for Imran Khan, which would allow his heart rate to be tracked continuously.
He also advised regular monitoring of blood pressure, along with several medical tests, including a stress test, an echocardiogram and a cardiac MRI. He further suggested a cardiac calcium scan and a cardiac CT angiogram, along with other tests if required.
Arif Alvi has demanded that Imran Khan be taken to hospital immediately. He said Khan should receive treatment under the supervision of a panel of doctors.
Imran Khan's family has also voiced concern. His sons, Sulaiman Khan and Qasim Khan, have raised questions over meeting their father, claiming that family members, doctors and lawyers have not been allowed to see him for a long time.
Imran Khan has been in jail since 2023 in multiple cases. His supporters have consistently described these cases as politically motivated. His party, PTI, also remains active in Pakistan's politics.
