Yemen's internationally recognised government has stepped up its military action against Houthi rebels. Under Operation Dawn of Yemen, the armed forces of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) claim to have carried out 2,103 precise strikes on Houthi positions.
The forces claim 1,860 Houthi fighters have been killed. They also say hundreds of pieces of military equipment, weapons and rebel positions have been completely destroyed.
Claim of full control over Kahboub mountains
The Yemeni army says it has taken full control of the Kahboub mountains. They lie near the Bab al-Mandeb strait, an important route for global maritime trade.
The army also says it is advancing quickly through the mountainous area of western Taiz. It says this is hampering the rebels' movements and supply lines.
Coalition says it hit Houthi missile depots
The Saudi-led coalition has also launched a military operation across Yemen, in response to recent attacks on Saudi Arabia.
Coalition officials say precise air strikes have destroyed key Houthi military sites. These include ballistic missile storage facilities, underground weapons depots and ammunition warehouses.
A PLC spokesman said on X that the operation was being carried out in a very systematic manner to eliminate Houthi fronts, fortifications and military bases.
Operation will go on until Sanaa is freed, says Alimi
Dr Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of the PLC, has said Operation Dawn of Yemen will not stop until its goals are fully achieved.
Addressing a meeting of leaders of the National Alliance of Political Parties and Components, he said the resolve to free the capital, Sanaa, from Houthi control and restore constitutional authority across the country was unshakeable.
