CBSE re-evaluation portal survives major DoS cyberattack with 15 lakh hits in 2 minutes on day one; over 16,000 students successfully applied.

Cyberattack Attempts On CBSE Portal: A major cyberattack has targeted the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) portal. The CBSE stated that despite multiple cyberattacks on the first day of the application process, its re-evaluation and verification portal remained operational. According to the board, the portal went live at 7:00 am today and continued to function normally. Official data shows that by 3:00 pm, more than 16,000 students had successfully submitted their re-evaluation applications.
In an update on its social media account X, the CBSE reported that the platform faced a massive DoS (Denial-of-Service) attack, which generated nearly 15 lakh hits within two minutes. The board also recorded over 1 lakh attempts to gain unauthorised access to files hosted on the system.
Providing an update on cybersecurity on its X page, the CBSE wrote: 'The CBSE re-evaluation portal is currently supporting more than 8,000 concurrent users. By 3:00 pm today, over 16,000 students have successfully completed their submission process. Although thousands of students used the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, some mischievous elements tried to disrupt services by launching a barrage of cyberattacks.'

The CBSE noted that the most recent attack was a 'Denial of Service' attempt, which resulted in 15 lakh hits on the portal within just 2 minutes and over 1 lakh attempts to access files without permission. The board added: 'Our teams are fully alert and ready to assist our dear students in every possible way.'
The CBSE team has claimed that the portal remains completely secure and functioning while countering these attacks. Based on student feedback, the platform has been further improved. The session time limit has now been extended, providing students with greater convenience during their process.
