Patna: Police raid posh hotel near Gandhi Maidan, rescue 10 women from alleged prostitution racket

Patna Police carried out a raid late on Thursday night at a posh hotel in the Gandhi Maidan police station area, uncovering an alleged prostitution racket. During the operation, 10 women were rescued, while a young man was taken into custody. The hotel operator, along with a few others, managed to flee the scene as soon as the raid began.

Tip-off leads to raid

According to police sources, they had been receiving information for some time about suspicious activities and an alleged prostitution racket being run out of the hotel, located in a posh part of Gandhi Maidan. Acting on this intelligence, a special team was formed under the leadership of Western Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanket Kumar. The team conducted the raid late on Thursday night after first carrying out a recce of the hotel to verify the information and gather sufficient evidence.

Police say that when the raid took place, some people were found in a compromising situation, allegedly at a liquor party in one of the hotel rooms. Panic broke out among those present the moment they spotted the police. The hotel operator and a few others fled during the chaos, while the rest were detained for questioning.

10 women rescued, one man detained

All those apprehended at the hotel have been brought to Gandhi Maidan police station for interrogation. Police are trying to establish when and under what circumstances the women became involved in the alleged racket, how long the activity had been running, and who else may have been involved.

In total, police rescued 10 women during the operation, while one young man was taken into custody. Liquor and other objectionable items were also recovered from the hotel room. An investigation is under way, and police are searching for the absconding accused, including the hotel operator.
