Sikar: Police have arrested Vikas Dhaka, the alleged main kingpin of a syndicate that sent cyber fraud and betting money abroad through crypto trading and hawala, in Jaipur's Vaishali Nagar. According to police, the accused is a resident of Basani village in Balaran, Sikar district, and has carried out transactions worth more than Rs 100 crore in two years. Police say he had bank accounts opened using documents of poor people and rented out their QR codes to fraudsters and bookies.

Police say that as soon as money reached these accounts, he bought cryptocurrencies, including USDT, and passed them on to a network in Dubai. Through the crypto network, he allegedly liquidated the digital currency and converted the fraud money into white money. He allegedly transferred around Rs 2 crore a month through hawala, for which he got Rs 2 lakh at a commission of 1 per cent.

Was Running Illegal Network After Returning from Dubai

DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said a special team traced and arrested Vikas Dhaka. He worked in construction in Dubai from 2018 to 2022. During this time, he came into contact with several syndicates involved in hawala, cyber fraud and sending money abroad.

After returning to India, he had been running this illegal network from different parts of Sikar for the past two years. As the network grew, he rented a flat in Nemi Sagar Colony in Jaipur about 20 days ago. Police then arrested him.

9 Mobile Phones, 8 Debit Card Kits Seized

Police recovered 9 mobile phones, 8 debit card kits of Fino Payments Bank, 9 UPI accounts and Google Pay scanner rolls from the accused. Police are getting his mobile phones examined.

Trading worth Rs 24 crore over the past two years has been confirmed in one of the three crypto wallets found with him. The other two wallets belong to different companies. Their transaction history is being collected.
