Indore: Sugar Prices Set to Fall Within 2-3 Days, Say Trade Sources

Indore: Sugar's mill delivery price and wholesale market rates have softened further, even as the all-India average retail price climbed to a peak of Rs 63.97 per kilogram. According to industry observers in Indore, Madhya Pradesh's commercial hub, the softening in mill delivery and wholesale rates is expected to reflect in retail prices within the next two to three days, with retail sugar rates likely to fall below Rs 60 per kilogram.

Ex-Factory Prices Fall, But Buyers Remain Scarce

According to official figures, the ex-factory sale price of S-grade sugar, which stood at Rs 5,500-5,700 per quintal, has now dropped to Rs 5,400-5,500 per quintal. Industry analysts noted that despite the government's strict measures bringing prices down, buyers remain scarce even at the reduced rates.

Daily Groceries Turn Costlier

Sugar was quoted at Rs 5,800-5,900. Royal Ratan sabudana was priced at Rs 7,550 loose and Rs 8,100 for 1 kg packing. Sachcha Moti sabudana was quoted at Rs 7,450 loose, Rs 7,950 for 1 kg packing and Rs 8,050 for half-kg packing. Sachcha sabudana Agmark (half-kg packing) was priced at Rs 8,200, Sabudana Chakra Agmark (500 gm) at Rs 8,140, and Sabudana Gopal loose (25 kg) at Rs 6,910 (all rates per quintal). Khopra gola was priced at Rs 355 in sacks and Rs 365-419 in boxes, while khopra bura ranged from Rs 3,200 to Rs 5,950.
