Jaipur: Gang Rammed Bike Riders with SUV, Dragged Them into Bushes to Rob Them; Two Arrested

Jaipur: Jaisinghpura Khor police in Jaipur have cracked a case involving a gang that used to knock down motorcycle riders on deserted roads by ramming them with an SUV, then drag them into nearby bushes to beat and rob them. Police have arrested two accused in the case and recovered the SUV used in the crime along with a stolen mobile phone. According to police, the accused would carry out reconnaissance of deserted routes at night before targeting their victims.

DCP Jaipur (North) Karan Sharma said the two arrested accused have been identified as Abhishek Sharma (25), a resident of Vivek Vihar, Jamdoli, and Rahul Bairwa (20), a resident of Mali Ki Kothi, Lakhesara, Kanota. A third accused involved in the incident is absconding and is being searched for.

On the night of 27 August, the complainant was travelling towards Mathuradaspura on a motorcycle along with his friends, Sohil, Rayan and Aryan. Around midnight, near Mittal College close to a cremation ground, a black Thar blocked their path. Three to four miscreants travelling in the SUV assaulted the young men and fled after snatching cash and mobile phones.

Clue Found via CCTV Footage

Following the incident, police scanned footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area. Alongside this, technical details of SUVs plying on the route of the crime were gathered. During the investigation, police received information that the suspects were hiding in the Kanota area. A police team raided the location and apprehended Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Bairwa.

Gang Used to Recce Deserted Spots

During questioning, police found that the accused would first survey deserted routes and areas. They would then target motorcycle riders, ram them with the SUV, and drag them into bushes to assault them. According to police, the accused have admitted to carrying out dozens of such incidents in the Kanota, Shivdaspura and Jaisinghpura Khor police station areas. Police are now investigating their criminal records and their role in other incidents.

Meanwhile, Bike Theft Accused Arrested, Confesses to Half a Dozen Incidents

In a joint operation, DST South and Muhana police have arrested an accused in a motorcycle theft case. During questioning, the accused confessed to committing around half a dozen vehicle theft incidents. Police have also recovered a stolen motorcycle in his possession.

According to police, the arrested accused, Inder Singh Rajput (28), is a resident of Jamdoli. Rohit Goyal, a resident of Sriji Nagar, Durgapura, had filed a report at Muhana police station stating that he had gone to Muhana for some work and parked his motorcycle near a dental shop. When he returned a short while later, the motorcycle was missing. Police registered a case and scanned CCTV camera footage from the spot and surrounding area, identifying and arresting the accused based on the footage.
