Udaipur: Couple and 8-Year-Old Son Killed as Car Hits Scooter, 14-Year-Old Son Critical

A family of four was travelling on a scooter along the Gogunda-Pindwara highway in Udaipur district on Thursday night when a speeding car struck them, killing three family members and leaving the eldest son fighting for his life.

Car occupants fled under cover of darkness

According to police, Navneet Meena (36), a resident of Rajsamand district, was riding the scooter along with his wife Sangeeta (33) and their two sons, Tushar (8) and Nikhil (14), heading towards Pindwara. At around 8.30 pm on Thursday, near Akiyawad in the Bekariya police station area, a speeding car collided head-on with their scooter. The impact was so severe that the scooter was completely destroyed. Immediately after the crash, the occupants of the car abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled under cover of darkness.

Family succumbed to injuries during treatment

Police rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed and took all the injured to Gogunda Hospital, where doctors declared eight-year-old Tushar dead on arrival. Navneet, Sangeeta and their elder son Nikhil, who had suffered critical injuries, were referred to MB Hospital in Udaipur. On Friday morning, Navneet and Sangeeta also succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Fourteen-year-old Nikhil's condition remains extremely critical.

Police launch search for the accused

ASI Yogendra Singh of Bekariya police station said both vehicles involved in the crash have been seized. A case has been registered against the unidentified car driver and its occupants, and a search has been launched to trace them. The tragedy has left the family's home village in mourning.
