Tensions between the US and Iran flared again, threatening to unravel a fragile ceasefire. After the US struck Iran — accusing Tehran of attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz — Iran retaliated, claiming it hit 85 US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait. The strikes came even as the funeral procession for Iran's late leader Ali Khamenei was underway in Najaf, Iraq.

Missile and Drone Strikes

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the strikes on the 85 sites, using a mix of missiles and drones. Among the named targets: the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

Bahrain and Kuwait Sound Emergency Sirens

Bahrain activated emergency sirens on Wednesday, urging citizens to stay calm and move to the nearest safe locations. Its Interior Ministry posted on X asking residents to remain calm, seek safety, and follow official updates. Kuwait's state news agency KUNA reported sirens went off across the country as well following the strikes.

"The US Broke Five Terms of the Agreement"

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the Trump administration of violating the ceasefire — citing interference with Iran's rights in the Hormuz region, repeated threats of military action, reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil exports, airstrikes on southern Iran, and support for Israel's ongoing actions in Lebanon.

80 Sites in Iran Hit Earlier

US Central Command (CENTCOM) had earlier said American forces struck 80 sites inside Iran and targeted more than 60 small Iranian military boats.
