All Options Open Against Iran, Says JD Vance; No Talks Until Hormuz Attacks Stop

US Iran Conflict: Tensions are rising rapidly in West Asia, with the United States and Iran facing off once again after nearly a month of relative calm. Following attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the US carried out military action against Iran. Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes on American military bases in the region.

Amid the escalating tensions, US Vice President JD Vance has issued a strong statement. According to a report by Al Jazeera, Vance said all options remain open for the US in its ongoing conflict with Iran. He made clear there is no possibility of talks with Iran until Tehran halts its attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

EU Joins 'Operation Economic Outcast'

Alongside the military tensions between the US and Iran, economic pressure on Tehran also appears to be mounting. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the European Union has officially joined America's economic pressure campaign against Iran, called "Operation Economic Outcast." The campaign aims to increase pressure on Iran's economic and financial activities.

Bessent said on social media platform X that the US stands firmly with its allies. He alleged that the Iranian regime is using the global financial system to fund its nuclear programme, weapons and terrorist organisations. He said the world is sending a clear message to the Iranian regime that pressure will continue until every remaining avenue of financial support is shut down.

The European Union had said at the end of last month that it would work with the US, other G7 nations and international partners to maintain pressure on Iran. The EU had also said it would contribute to reducing tensions and maintaining regional stability in West Asia. With military tensions between the US and Iran rising alongside Europe's economic pressure, international pressure on Tehran could increase further in the coming days.
