Banswara: Two Girls Drown While Bathing in a Water-Filled Ditch; Bodies Retrieved After 4-Hour Operation

Two young girls tragically drowned while bathing in a water-filled ditch in Banswara, Rajasthan. Their bodies were recovered after a intense 4-hour police rescue operation.

Banswara: In a tragic incident in the Banswara district of Rajasthan, two young girls drowned after entering a water-filled ditch (nala) to bathe. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Umri Nala Dabra area under the jurisdiction of the Abapura Police Station.

The deceased have been identified as Bhuli and Ronika, both residents of Nadiya. Upon receiving information from local residents, the police reached the spot, retrieved the bodies of the two girls from the water, and placed them in the mortuary of the government hospital.

According to the police, both girls were residents of Nadiya village in Banswara district. They had left their homes at around 1:00 PM on Tuesday to bathe in a water-filled channel located about 1.5 kilometers away. However, they did not return by late evening. Following this, the family members conducted an extensive search for the two girls, but no clues were found until late at night. It was then that local residents mentioned that both girls were last seen near the water-filled pit.

4-Hour Operation: Both Girls Found Dead

Fearing that the girls had drowned, the Abapura Police Station was informed at around 9:00 PM. Upon receiving the information, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ravi Thapa reached the spot along with a police force. The police launched a rescue operation with the help of local residents.

The search for the innocent girls inside the water continued for about 4 hours. Finally, late at night at around 1:00 AM, the police retrieved the bodies of both girls from the water-logged trench.

Bodies Handed Over to Family After Post-Mortem

The police kept the bodies of both girls in the mortuary of the government hospital. Meanwhile, the family members are inconsolable and in deep grief following the incident, and a blanket of mourning has spread over the locality.

Since Wednesday morning, a crowd of people gathered outside the mortuary of the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. After conducting the post-mortem, the police handed over the bodies to the family members on Wednesday afternoon.

Both Girls Were Residents of the Same Neighborhood

The deceased girls have been identified as 9-year-old Bhuli, daughter of Dilip Ninama, and 8-year-old Veronika, daughter of Ramprasad Ninama. Both girls lived in the same neighborhood.

Bhuli was a student of class 5 and Ronika was in class 4; they used to go to school together. On Tuesday, both girls had gone to bathe together, but both tragically died due to drowning.
