AIIMS Bhopal launched an IVF and Fertility Centre in its Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology on Monday. The centre aims to provide investigation, counselling and modern treatment for reproductive problems in both women and men under one roof.
The centre will offer services ranging from general medical advice to advanced techniques such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), IVF and ICSI. According to the AIIMS administration, the centre's main goal is to provide safe, scientific, ethical, affordable and patient-centred healthcare services.
Dr Narendra Kotwal Inaugurates Centre
The inauguration was carried out by Executive Director Lieutenant General (Retd) Dr Narendra Kotwal. Dean (Academic) Prof Dr Rajnish Joshi, Deputy Director (Administration) Sandesh Jain, Medical Superintendent Prof Dr Vikas Gupta and others were present at the event. Also present were Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Prof Dr K. Pushpalatha, IVF nodal officer Dr Bharti Singh, Dr Arun Dora, and IVF counsellor Dr Vaishali Gurwani.
Fees Far Lower Than Private Centres
Private fertility centres typically charge between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for an IVF procedure, putting it out of reach for ordinary families. As per AIIMS's published rates, the IVF fee is around Rs 60,000, while the fee for IVF-ICSI has been fixed at Rs 65,000. However, final confirmation of the total package, including tests and medicines, is still pending.
What the Centre Will Offer
The centre will place emphasis on patient safety, confidentiality, consent and need-based treatment.
