Bikaner: Two young men died late Friday night after an out-of-control SUV crashed near Udasar Phanta on Sagar Road in Bikaner, in what witnesses described as a violent, prolonged accident.

According to initial reports, the speeding SUV first struck two people riding a scooter, then careened uncontrollably for roughly 500–600 feet, hitting a cow along the way before knocking down an electricity pole. The vehicle then swerved past two shops before slamming into a parked car outside a hotel. The impact was so severe that the SUV was hurled about 10 feet into the air and was left completely mangled.

Despite the airbags deploying, both occupants of the SUV suffered fatal injuries. Eyewitnesses said the two men were thrown out through the shattered windshield — one is believed to have died at the scene, while the other succumbed on the way to the hospital. Neither victim had been identified at the scene, though police recovered an Aadhaar card from the vehicle listing an address near a mosque in Indra Colony. The scooter was completely destroyed in the crash, and its rider, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to hospital by a private vehicle and remains under treatment.

Police and ambulance teams reached the site soon after being alerted and carried out relief and rescue work, including removing the damaged electricity pole and restoring power supply. Members of local welfare organisations also assisted at the scene. Authorities believe excessive speed was the primary cause of the crash and are continuing their investigation, including efforts to identify the deceased.

Locals noted that because traffic on the road was light at that late hour, the death toll was limited — had the SUV been speeding through a busier stretch, the consequences could have been far worse. Police have kept the bodies of both victims at the mortuary while they work to trace their families.
