Hearing the loud noise of the collision, villagers from nearby areas rushed to the spot. On information from locals, police from Kolwa and Sadar police stations also reached the site. Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit arrived at the scene to take stock of the situation. Families who were returning home on Raksha Bandhan in the joy of meeting loved ones and having rakhis tied on them suddenly found their happiness turn to mourning and cries, when the accident occurred without warning on the expressway.

The accident took place near Gudhaliya village under Kolwa police station limits at around 7 am on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. A sleeper bus belonging to a private travel company, travelling from Ahmedabad to Delhi, collided with a truck moving ahead of it. The collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely smashed. Cries erupted at the scene following the accident.

SP Piyush Dixit said that villagers from the surrounding area rushed to the spot immediately after the accident to help. On receiving information, police from Kolwa and Sadar police stations reached the site. Cries Erupted on the Expressway

Following the accident, there were cries and screams on the expressway. After the loud impact, some passengers fell from their seats. People were seen struggling to get out of the bus. Local residents pulled those trapped inside the bus out after considerable effort. The front portion of the bus was badly damaged in the accident.
