US-Iran War

America Strikes Iran (Photo-ANI)

The United States has launched large-scale military action against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed.

In a post on X, CENTCOM said American forces were carrying out a series of strikes to make Iran pay a price for targeting commercial ships carrying innocent civilians through an international waterway. According to CENTCOM, Iran had attacked three commercial vessels passing through Hormuz, and the US military action came in direct response to those attacks.

CENTCOM also accused Iran of violating the ceasefire and endangering international maritime security, calling Iran's aggression unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the truce.

Multiple Explosions in Southern Iran
According to a report by Al Jazeera, several explosions were heard across southern Iran, with blasts reported around Sirik, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas. Citing Iran's Fars news agency, the report said several projectiles struck the port of Sirik, damaging commercial and fishing piers.

Iran Also Levels Accusations Over US Sanctions
Separately, Iran's foreign ministry accused the US of violating Article 10 of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries on June 18. The ministry said the US Treasury Department's cancellation of the temporary sanctions waiver on Iranian oil sales amounted to a violation of the agreement. It said the move, coming within just 20 days of the MoU being signed, reflected bad faith on Washington's part and proved the US could not be trusted.

The ministry further alleged that the US had violated the agreement both directly and indirectly — particularly through Israel's actions in Lebanon.
