Why Are Gold Prices Falling?
US third-quarter GDP growth data has come in stronger than expected. Traders expect a US Federal Reserve (Fed) rate hike in December. This is putting pressure on gold.
High crude oil prices have kept real yields elevated. There is a fear that investors may move out of gold and into interest-bearing assets such as bonds. This is why prices are falling.
What Are Experts Saying?
Ajay Kedia, managing director of Kedia Advisory, told Patrika.com that investors should currently watch the prospects for US Fed rates, inflation in the US and geopolitical conditions.
If the chances of a Fed rate hike in December decrease, US inflation comes down and geopolitical tension eases, gold could see a rally, he said. On the other hand, higher inflation and a stronger dollar could put further pressure on gold.
