Heavy rainfall that began late Wednesday night in Rajasthan's Dholpur district continued intermittently until Thursday morning, causing waterlogging in several areas and inconveniencing residents. Amid the downpour, two houses collapsed in the district, injuring nine people, including seven members of a single family. Four of the injured are in serious condition.

The first incident occurred in Kailashpura village under Maniyan police station limits. Roop Singh Baghel's pucca (concrete) house suddenly caved in late Wednesday night while the entire family was asleep. The structure crumbled to rubble within moments, trapping all seven family members inside. Hearing their cries for help, villagers rushed to the site and began rescue efforts on their own, without waiting for official resources, eventually pulling everyone out safely after considerable effort.

The injured include Roop Singh Baghel, his wife Hemlata, son Anshu (12), and daughters Khushboo (15), Babita (14), Sheetal (10), and Madhu (17). After first aid at the district hospital, doctors referred Roop Singh Baghel and Sheetal to a higher medical center due to their critical condition, while the rest continue treatment.

In a second incident in Biloni village under Kanchanpur police station, a mud/mudbrick wall collapsed due to the rain, trapping a mother-daughter duo — Baldevi and her daughter Anjali — who were sleeping on a cot under a thatched roof. Villagers quickly cleared the debris and rushed them to the district hospital. Baldevi was referred elsewhere after her condition turned serious following first aid.

Meanwhile, Dholpur city saw waterlogging on several roads, troubling pedestrians and vehicle owners, especially in low-lying areas. However, farmers welcomed the rain, as it provided adequate moisture for sowing kharif crops.
