A very tragic incident came to light from the Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj city on Tuesday. Himanshu, 22, a resident of JP Nagar, Sulemsara, committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. Himanshu was a graduate student and is reported to be the younger son of retired IAS officer Shrichandra. The family was devastated upon learning of the incident.
According to the police, Himanshu had contracted a love marriage about two months ago with a young woman named Shivani. Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple often quarrelled over unemployment. Himanshu was reportedly suffering from mental distress due to family tensions. It is suspected that he took this extreme step under this stress.
It was reported that around 5 PM on Monday, Himanshu locked his room from the inside. After some time, his family members called out to him, but there was no response from inside. Becoming suspicious, they looked through the window and saw Himanshu's body hanging from the ceiling. The police were immediately informed.
The Dhoomanganj police, who arrived at the scene, broke down the door, took down the body, and sent it for post-mortem. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family on Tuesday. A pall of gloom has descended upon the house since the incident. His mother, Nirmala Devi, wife Shivani, and elder brother Sudhanshu are inconsolable. It was stated that Himanshu's father was not at home at the time of the incident.
The police stated that no suicide note was found in the room. Family members, during questioning, mentioned family tensions. However, no written complaint has been filed in this matter. The police are investigating the case, considering all aspects.
