Simhastha 2028: 40 Roads to Be Widened in Ujjain, Houses Marked on Five Routes

Ahead of the Simhastha 2028 preparations, the Ujjain Municipal Corporation is widening more than two dozen roads across the city. In addition to these ongoing projects, widening work is set to begin shortly on five more routes. Marks have already been placed on houses along some of these stretches, while notices have been issued to residents along others.

Plan to widen 40 roads

Widening of major roads in the city is proceeding one after another. Around 40 routes are planned to be widened by the time of Simhastha. Work on five of these routes is expected to begin soon. The Municipal Corporation has recently completed central lining and marking of houses along the Gudri to Harsiddhi ki Pal route as part of preparations for widening. Notices are also being issued to affected residents along some other routes. Widening work on these routes will begin once the necessary formalities are completed.

Routes being prepared for widening

• Gudri to Harsiddhi ki Pal: This approximately 570-metre-long route will be widened to 15 metres. The cost of the work is Rs 14.43 crore, and around 136 buildings are expected to be affected. Marking of buildings for widening began a few days ago.
• Do Talab to Shantinagar: This roughly 650-metre-long route currently ranges from 6 to 10 metres in width and is planned to be widened to 15 metres. The work will cost Rs 13.15 crore. Notices have been issued to around 120 affected residents so far, and drain construction has begun in some areas.
• Neelkanth Dwar to Mahakal Chauraha: This approximately 400-metre-long route is planned to be widened to 24 metres, at a cost of Rs 27.76 crore. Measurement and central lining work on the route has already been completed, and more than 120 buildings are expected to be affected.
• Chaubis Khamba to Chhota Rudra Sagar: This roughly 650-metre-long route currently measures 9 to 12 metres in width and is to be widened to 18 metres. The widening work will cost around Rs 9.55 crore, with the process having reached the notice stage.
• Khajurwali Masjid to Ganesh Chowk: This approximately 730-metre-long route currently varies between 7 and 10 metres in width and is planned to be widened to 15 metres. The cost of the work is around Rs 9.80 crore. Traffic has been diverted onto this route while widening work continues on nearby roads.
