The Sirsa Underbridge (UB) located at Bhilai-3, under the Raipur Rail Division of South East Central Railway, is set to be temporarily shut down for structural repair and maintenance work. As per the official notice issued by the railway administration, the underbridge will remain closed to all traffic from 8:00 AM on July 1, 2026, to 6:00 PM on August 31, 2026 — a period of 60 days.
Railway officials stated that the structural repair and upkeep of the underbridge is critically necessary to ensure the safety of rail operations and the protection of passengers. During the repair period, movement of vehicles as well as pedestrians through the underbridge will be completely prohibited to prevent any risk of accidents.
The railway administration has appealed to local residents and vehicle operators to use alternative routes during the closure period. Officials assured that once the repair work is completed, the underbridge will be reopened for normal traffic. The railway has emphasised that this work is being carried out to ensure safe and smooth passage in the future.
In a related development, the Gudhiyari Railway Underbridge in Raipur city, located on the expressway route, had already been shut down for 14 days — from June 4 to June 18 — for maintenance and upkeep by the South East Central Railway. During that period, traffic was completely halted on that route and police personnel were deployed at the site to manage the situation. The work involved installation of a railway cover shed and pipes inside underbridge number 380. Traffic police had also issued a separate advisory to commuters during that closure, and the underbridge has since been reopened.
The closure of the Sirsa Underbridge is expected to cause significant inconvenience to thousands of daily commuters in the Bhilai region, who will need to plan alternate routes for the two months.
