Atiq Ahmed's Son Abaan Ahmed Killed in Jhansi Road Accident

Abaan Ahmed (21), the youngest son of late gangster Atiq Ahmed, was killed in a devastating road accident on the Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway on Thursday morning. The accident occurred in the Poonch police station area at around 10.30am, while Abaan was travelling with his associates to Jhansi jail to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is currently incarcerated there.

Five people were travelling in the car at the time of the accident. According to initial reports, the driver attempted to swerve after an animal suddenly appeared on the highway. The high-speed Hyundai Creta went out of control and collided with the road divider. The impact was so severe that the car was badly damaged, killing Abaan and one other occupant.

Two Dead, Three Critically Injured

Police said local residents alerted them following the crash, after which a team reached the scene and pulled all five occupants from the wreckage before rushing them to hospital. Doctors declared Abaan Ahmed and his friend Sonu dead on arrival. Three others — Umar Ahmed, Mohammad Zaid and Aslam — sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at the medical college. Police have sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examination.

Accident Occurred While Swerving to Avoid an Animal

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Creta was travelling from Kanpur towards Jhansi when an animal suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid it, but lost control of the car due to its high speed, causing it to crash into the divider. The severity of the collision can be gauged from the fact that the front of the car was completely destroyed.

Abaan Was Travelling to Meet Brother Ali Ahmed

According to police and local administration, Abaan Ahmed was on his way to Jhansi to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is currently lodged in Jhansi jail. The accident occurred en route to this meeting.

Police Launch Investigation

Poonch police station officers inspected the accident site and gathered evidence. Police said a detailed investigation into the causes of the crash is underway. The bodies will be handed over to family members once the post-mortem process is complete. Traffic on the highway was briefly disrupted following the accident but was soon restored by police. Investigators are examining statements from the injured along with other technical evidence as the probe continues.
